CUs Discuss Fraud, Banking Deserts, & More with Lawmaker

Credit union leaders recently gathered at First Entertainment CU to show support for a friend of credit unions — California Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel (D-Encino).
Upon re-election, Gabriel would represent Assembly District 46. The district is located in the central San Fernando Valley and contains a portion of Bell Canyon in Ventura County.
Gabriel currently serves as chair of the Assembly Privacy and Consumer Protection Committee, and he also sits on the Assembly Banking and Finance Committee where he has continued to be a credit union ally.
During the visit, he talked about his history in the legislature, as well as the approximate 6,000 votes he has casted during his two-year session. As a legislator dealing with a variety of issues, he discussed the importance of having strong engagement at the district level, which is where credit union leaders can be a help in creating engines of social mobility.
Gabriel and local credit union leaders also touched on other topics relating to inflation, fraud prevention, banking deserts, and partnering together on future Bite of Reality and Senior Scammer events!
The California Credit Union League would like to thank First Entertainment CU for hosting the event, as well as the following credit unions for creating such a dynamic discussion: Logix FCU, SchoolsFirst FCU, Financial Partners CU, California CU, and Wescom CU!
