This week, credit unions met with California Assemblymember Mike Fong (D-Alhambra and Los Angeles communities), who represents Assembly District 49.

Fong was recently elected to the California State Assembly in February 2022 to fill the vacancy left by Ed Chau. The district represents Alhambra, Arcadia, El Monte, Monterey Park, Rosemead, Temple City, San Marino, San Gabriel and parts of Montebello and South El Monte.

Notably, Fong sits on the Assembly Banking and Finance Committee, the Privacy and Consumer Protection Committee, and the Appropriations Committee.

Attendees discussed opportunities to partner on credit union financial literacy programs, efforts to increase access to financial services for the unbanked and underbanked, and the impact of inflation on constituents within the district.

The California Credit Union League would like to thank Nuvision FCU for hosting the meeting, as well as the following credit unions for participating: California CU, CU of Southern California, Foothill FCU, SCE FCU, and SchoolsFirst FCU.

The League looks forward to continuing to work with Fong!
