Leaders Leave CU FinHealth with Actionable Financial Health Strategies

CU FinHealth was successful in bringing together industry leaders to examine how credit unions are measuring financial health, working to strengthen it, and documenting and sharing the results. Conference attendees accomplished this goal and so much more in San Antonio, TX this past week.
Credit union members’ financial wellbeing and financial health dominated the presentations and in-depth discussions at this year’s event from April 25 – 27. The sixth annual conference was co-hosted by the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues, the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF), and the Cornerstone Foundation.
This year’s event explored the connections between financial wellbeing, physical health, payments, technology and advocacy. Multi-sector solutions were also addressed — the drivers of financial wellbeing and health — and best practices were shared.
Attendees were able to learn from each other’s efforts, explore strategies for engaging new partners, and leverage technology to truly improve the financial wellbeing of credit union members, employees, and communities.
A diverse cross-section of credit union leaders attend CU FinHealth each year, including CEOs, CFOs, and leaders in lending, operations, community engagement and others who work to make consumer financial health a strategic priority at their credit unions. By the end of the conference, this year’s participants:
- Better understood how credit unions have been measuring, operationalizing and documenting consumer financial wellbeing and health.
- Gained a stronger understanding of the drivers behind financial wellbeing and health, including how physical health, wealth, and place/location are inextricably linked.
- Were armed with at least three innovative ideas to take back home and implement at their credit union to bring strategic focus to improving financial wellbeing for all in their communities.
Attendees took deep-dives into the following general sessions and breakout discussions:
- Setting the Stage: How Credit Union Executives are Thinking About Financial Health and Wellbeing as a Business Strategy.
- A “One Thing” rapid-fire speed meeting sessions to get to know each other and increase knowledge of financial health.
- It's All Connected: How Financial Health is an Inclusion Story.
- Concept to Action: What Financial Health and Wellbeing Look Like in Practice.
- Concept to Action.
- Bridging the Digital Divide with Fintech.
- Sharing Your Action Plan.
Speakers, panelists, and attendees ended by being “sent off” to improve financial health and wellbeing in their local communities over the next year.
Visa was the presenting sponsor of CU FinHealth 22. Additional sponsors included ZestAI, Financial Fitness Group, Zogo, SoGoSurvey, Upstart, Balance, and SerTech.
The Leagues and other co-hosts want to thank all attendees for taking time to be part of this year’s conference!
