CA League Facilitates Candidate Meetings with CU Leaders

The California Credit Union League and member credit unions have been incredibly busy over the past two weeks engaging candidates for office at both the state and federal levels.
The first event was a fundraiser for Assemblymember Tim Grayson (D-Concord), who chairs the Assembly Banking and Finance Committee. During the event, Grayson gave a glimpse into a few things he's learned over his six years in office. The conversation revolved around the housing crisis, California migration exodus, equity concerns in education, data security, and the importance of financial literacy.
Hosted at Patelco CU, participants included credit union leaders from 1st Northern California CU, Keypoint CU, Pacific Service CU, Star One CU, and UNIFY Financial CU.
On the federal side, California Coast CU hosted an event for Rep. Scott Peters (D-San Diego). The conversation covered everything from redistricting, the economic outlook, and the downfield agenda. Peters is a pro-business Democrat who has crossed party lines on multiple occasions.
Finally, in a cross between state and federal, the League held a meet-and-greet at USC CU with Senator Sydney Kamlager (D-Los Angeles), who is running for Congress. Kamlager has a proven track record of engaging credit unions at a local level and will continue to do so in Congress.
Credit unions participating included SchoolsFirst FCU, Kinecta FCU, First Entertainment CU, Wescom CU, California CU, Water and Power Community CU, and University CU.
With the California State Legislature back in session in Sacramento and Congress returning next week to Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues will be ramping up these kinds of events throughout the year. Stay tuned!
